Today the World Cup comes to an end. It’s a sad day for all as it’s the last we get to hear of the vuvuzelas. It’s the last time we get to see main stream soccer on main stream tv. Oh, I know, you are sooooo excited….
What’s good about today’s matchup is that neither team has ever won the cup. Meaning you should see two teams leave it all on the field today. The Dutch and Spaniards play very similar and you will notice a similar pace.
Spain comes in off a victory over 3 time winner Germany and the Netherlands come in from a win over Uruguay. The Germans beat Uruguay 3-2 yesterday afternoon in the 3rd place match-up in a thriller.
Look for Spain to strike early with Torres breaking his scoreless streak. The Dutch have fight and will make a match of it. It will come down to who can control the ball and own the percentage of possession. The Dutch have the advantage in this in my opinion. The Netherlands win 3-1. Robben and Van Bronckhorst will steal the show.
My in-laws live in The Hague, Netherlands and are in town visiting here in KY. If the Dutch win we have a bottle of CuraƧao to crack open.
Tune in and enjoy some good soccer at 2:30 ABC. Who do you have?
