ESPN’s Chris Low continues to rank the positions of the SEC. Today Low ranks the wide receiving cores of the 12 teams. Low’s top 3 are Arkansas at 1, Georgia at 2, and South Carolina at 3. The announcement that Paul Warford is not going to be on the field for the cats this year at corner and the fact 2 division foes are ranked in the top 3, and neither are Florida, is not great news for the cats.
Low has ranked the Kentucky receivers as the 9th best in the SEC. It is my opinion that Chris has made a mistake with the Cats low (no pun intended) ranking. He gives Cobb his due, but does not give Matthews enough credit King is not even mentioned by CL. I think that the Cats receivers will be the biggest surprise to the rest of the SEC, right behind the offensive line.
Here is what Chris has on his #9 ranked Cat WR’s…
” 9. Kentucky: Randall Cobb – alone probably merits a higher ranking. He’s that good and one of those guys who’s always ending up in the end zone. Cobb scored 15 touchdown last season.
Chris Matthews (6-5, 222 pounds) has great size and can also run. The second season in the program is when junior college transfers typically catch on, and Matthews showed this spring that he might be ready to take some of the pressure off Cobb. The Wildcats still need some of the other younger receivers to make a move thisseason and build more depth.”
