As we speak, my mother and my wife are attending the 2010 UK Women’s Football Camp. I would love to be able to say that they are both in full gear and knockin’ heads, but they are actually not, unfortunately. My wife went for the first time last year and had a wonderful day. The girls take tours of the UK facilities, meet with different positional coaches, and participate in a question and answer session with coaches and players. The one physical activity I was told about last year was when some ladies competed in a punt catching and field goal kicking contest. My wife planned all year to practice and enter one of these contests, but since I think she left early this morning with a skirt on, I doubt she is going through with that plan.
Now, to the part of this post when I tell all of you dirt bag men how you can benefit from sending your women to these camps. The girls are allowed to take one item to have autographed by players and coaches. After failing to send my wife with anything cool last year, this year she has in her pretty little hands a Nike Kentucky football with the white panels for signing. So, as I sit around the house on a lazy Saturday, she is out in the heat getting the guys to sign a ball for me (I will let her say it’s hers). This completely eliminates the embarrassment I would feel for asking a 19 year old kid for his signature at another time. This is a
win/win situation for everyone involved if you ask me. The only possible downside of this is if your wife or mother become friends with Derrick Locke, they chat on facebook and end up running off together leaving you with only a crummy autographed football.
The basketball program has the same type of event in October. That is why I have a ball signed by 5 NBA 1st round draft picks sitting on a speaker in my living room. I am just saying boys; you might look into this as a possible investment opportunity. I hope to have plenty of good pictures for you all from the women’s football camp throughout the weekend. Go Cats!
