The Picture above is of the Denver Bronco’s 2010 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award given to former cat, Wesley Woodyard. Woodyard was given this award back in November, but Tweeted the picture today. The prestigious award historically recognizes a player for outstanding leadership both on the field and in the community and should be recognized by this and every site on the net as much as possible. It is, unfortunately, rare for professional athletes to show as much class and courage as Mr. Woodyard and all Kentuckians and members of Big Blue nation should be proud of our former star linebacker.
A $5,000 donation was presented on his behalf to both the Tennyson Center for Children and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. He is heavily involved with both organizations and has made a positive impact on numerous youth through his efforts In Denver. Woodyard’s name will be submitted to the NFL for consideration as the national award winner, which is announced during Super Bowl week. That individual will receive a $25,000 donation to the organization of his choice courtesy of NFL Charities. My favorite NFL player of all time, John Elway (1992), is the only Broncos player to win the national award. Hopefully Wesley will be able to change that this year, congrats to Mr. Woodyard.
