Due to a public outcry, I am now being asked to share my post-game thoughts with you, my loyal readers. If you hate the title, suck it, I have much more important things to think about than post titles.
– I know no one wants to admit it and no one wants to make excuses for this team, but they are obviously fatigued. The most obvious sign of this is the long periods of time they go with scoreless trips on offense with mindless turnovers and bad shots. With only a 6 man rotation (After Lamb enters, no one else’s minutes are relevant), this was bound to happen. Cal will not let his team believe they are tired and will not let them use it as an excuse, but that is just Cal’s mind games in order to not give them an opportunity to quit. Playing intense man to man defense will tire out a 12 man rotation, much less a 6 man one. A zone would not only help the Cats in certain situations on defense, it would help them conserve energy too. Big Blue Nation may not want to believe it or admit it, but our Wildcats are tired.
– The morning chatter is leaning towards the camera angle ESPN went with last night. They experimented with an overhead camera they attached to “Big Bertha”. It was ESPN’s first use of this angle in a college basketball game and the resounding opinion of TGR is that it sucked. Tom Leach even had a few people e-mail him during the game to complain and I had never heard him acknowledge an email during a broadcast before.
– The biggest thing I took away from the game last night was this… How big a turd of a person and a player is Renardo Sidney? He doesn’t get from end to end on the court, he refuses to play defense, he pouts like a baby, and he is a mess off the court. I heard ESPN’s color analyst say last night that he doesn’t tie his shoes in walk through before the game. If Kentucky fans hated the demeanor of Randolph Morris, how badly would Renardo Sidney be hated in Lexington? The entire MSU administration should be embarrassed to have such a player on their team after all of his off the court issues and then the way he performs on the court.
– A big ‘Thanks’ goes to Brandon Knight for doing something I have begged players to do in the past. If a guy is going to foul you intentionally, no matter where you are on the court, jump up and shoot the damn thing! Force the dumb referee to make a decision on whether you are shooting or not. Lord knows they struggle on one decision. Give them more than one thing to decipher and their head may explode. C! A! T! S!
