I started in public accounting in 1973. Your deripcstion is very accurate. We had an old-timer in our office, Chuck, whose father had been a CPA. Chuck could, in his head, add columns of numbers faster than anyone in the office could, adding machine or not. Mental gymnastics? Thanks for your essay on this.
