ESPN Ranks Winston Guy #7 Safety in The SEC

ESPN’s Edward Aschoff is still at it today. This time he has ranked the top safeties in the SEC’s defenses. For one of the few times in the ESPN run of ranking “everything” SEC, UK has an individual spoken of who is not Danny Trevathan.

7. Winston Guy, Kentucky, Sr.: For a while, Guy didn’t get much praise from his coaches, but that has changed this spring after he was more consistent during spring practice. He plays in the box a lot and will be the team’s nickel linebacker as another one of those versatile hybrids.

Guy traveled across-town from Lexington Catholic with plenty of hype. He has been one of the most frustrating players I can remember playing at UK. He drips with potential and athleticism, but he has never fully seen it on the field. With UK changing defenses, Guy will be moving closer to the line of scrimmage. Will this help him? Who knows.
