Joker and staff received their 9th commitment Monday for the 2012 campaign. Pat Graffree, a 6’4″ 277lb defensive lineman, received an offer after spending the weekend in camp with Kentucky and accepted. Graffree expects to play defensive tackle for the Cats.
Cats Illustrated caught up with Graffree after the commitment: “Yesterday was a pretty intense day. I went up there with the mind-set that I wanted to get an offer because I got my heart broken on Friday by (Western Kentucky) when they put me on their waiting list (after a camp). I went to UK with the mind-set that I was going to do better and get an offer. I started to do well in the drills, and that led to the (one-on-one) competitions, which I excelled at.”
As one of the craziest names i have seen, this 6-10 205 pound center is a five star prospect out of Everett, Massachusetts. He seems to be a defensive force with his length making him an incredible shot blocker. He already holds offers from UConn, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Kentucky. Most likely he will pick up many more in the next year from Florida, Kansas, Georgetown, and Providence as all these schools are on his list as well. Take a look at some of his game footage below:
If you are unclear on whether or not there is anything of significance happening within Big Blue nation, this should be a clue. For the second time in two days, I am talking about recruiting. Keep in mind, I am doing this ONLY because I have nothing else to talk about. Screw it, I am not getting into it, just watch the videos below of 2012 stud and possible Future Cat, Shabazz Muhammad.
It is no secret that Raleigh’s Rodney Purvis is a much coveted recruit by the University of Kentucky and Coach Cal. The Upper Room Christian Academy High School star is a 6’4″,185 lb. shooting guard with extraordinary slashing skills. He is ranked 7th over-all in the class of 2012 and is the #1 shooting guard in his class. He is considering Duke, Memphis, NC State, Louisville, and Kentucky.
ESPN had this to say about RP, ” Rodney is a slasher supreme. He is impossible to keep out of the lane at times. He is very strong and a very good athlete. His quickness, strength, size and solid handle allow him to get where ever he wants on the court, whenever he wants. Purvis is very good in transition and is a big finisher. His jumper is respectable to 15 feet and Rodney is a solid rebounder with his strong body, excellent leaping ability and aggressiveness. He is an excellent passer and often finds his open teammates on his drives into the lane. He is wired to score and simply gets buckets when on the floor.”
Here is the man in high school action…
Joker and the boys own Stone Mountain, GA and it’s no surprise the Cats get another commitment today from Demarcus Sweat’s High School teammate Shawn Blaylock.
Blaylock is a 5’11” 172 lb. corner that looks to play wide receiver in college.
“I got a call from Coach Sanders this morning. “He asked ‘how I would like to be a Wildcat? I told him I wanted to be part of the family. I picked UK because it felt like home. They showed me much love and I like Kentucky’s hospitality. The coaches are great are they are real welcoming, too.”
According to a video on Coast to Coast Recruiting, the 2012 combo guard said the Cats are still in the running even with Harrow’s commitment. Rodney was at one point committed to the Dirty Birds, but backed off when Tim Fuller left for Missouri. Also in the video he lists his favorite schools as Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, NC State, and Memphis. There is also some footage of him talking about what his strengths and weakness are, and some other small talk. Check it out below.
And you thought you could play some golf, hit the pool or lake and nothing in BBN would happen right? While the Winchester Boys were taking in the annual Memorial Golf Tournament at the Winchester Country Club and I was away at Quail Chase the inevitable happened.
Tucked inside the news of a crazy choke job at the Indy 500 and a miraculous playoff victory by Tom Watson at Valhalla Joker and the boys may have possibly picked up another 2012 commitment.
Georgia Wide Receiver Demarcus Sweat gave the Cats his verbal today following UK skills camp. Sweat is a 6’1″185 lb. from Stephenson High School in Atlanta that brought the Cats Jabari Johnson, Ronnie Shields and Raymond Sanders in 2010.
However, Atlanta recruiting circles claim he has not officially” committed, but by the looks of his Twitter page he likes the Cats (gotta love the handle name).
